Halloween stories

As its Halloween today, we thought we would get into the “spirit” of things and share with you some of the spooky stories from Maunsel House. Most of the stories date back hundreds of years, this one in particular dates back to the Second World War.
During the war, US soldiers were stationed at MaunselHouse whilst on daring missions alongside the British forces. Over time, many of the soldiers reported sightings of a Military officer in a Red Blazer wandering through The Great Hall at night, only to disappear on closer inspection.

Although accounts are patchy, the story goes that he was a high ranking officer who fought during a previous conflict and appeared again during WWII, don’t worry though, we haven’t spotted him ourselves!

The second story is more a ghostly giggle than spooky story; we’ll let Sir Benjamin tell this one!

Have you stayed with us at Maunsel House? Do you have any spooky stories of your own?
We would love to hear them!

Sir Ben visits Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance base

On Thursday 18th October, Maunsel House and Woodlands Castle owner and proprietor, Sir Benjamin Slade visited the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance airbase in Henstridge.
He was there to meet the crew and Chief Executive officer, Bill Sivewright.
The reason for the visit was to help promote the Charity and the up and coming Charity Business Networking event at Woodlands Castle, Ruishton on Wednesday 14th November.

We caught up with Sir Ben:
"We are giving a Charity Networking event on Wednesday 14th November at Woodlands Castle with Champagne, wine, canapés to help us promote this essential Charity and service. We esepcially want to meet young rugger players and horse riders who are the best customers of the Air Ambulance.
It would be good for professional lawyers, doctors, accountants and business people to be able to relax, network, strum up a bit of business, have fun and help raise money for the Air Ambulance.
Later on in the evening there will be a bite to eat and maybe a bit of music to shake all the food down."

Do try and make it down to the event if you are a local business or entrepreneur. We have single tickets or business stand tickets available. For more information or to book, please contact Woodlands Castle
