County Marquees

Well the sun appears to be reluctantly putting his hat on for us! We hope this continues into the weekend for our happy couple and their 160 guests. As it happens it wouldn't be the end of the world if we had a few showers as there will be a stunning marquee in place provided by countymarquees

We are lucky enough at Maunsel House to have the grounds to accommodate large marquee structures for your wedding. County Marquees have been so fabulous in the past that we wanted to share with you a little bit of what they do.

Choosing the right marquee and interiors can make the difference between a great occasion and a really memorable one. At County Marquees, they don’t just provide marquees – they help you to create the perfect atmosphere for your event.

Their event planning team will bring a spark of creativity to your event.  Every marquee-build is run by an experienced site manager and the directors often work on site to ensure the quality of the finished job.

They provide a wide range of interiors, lighting and furnishings so that the marquee can reflect your own style or theme.

Below are just a few examples of some of County Marquees structures. Please visit their site for more amazing pictures and some lovely testimonials from previous clients and happy couples.

We hope you enjoyed this week's feature, don't forget to subscribe and share. Have a great weekend from The Team at Maunsel House.

The Guest Wing

Good afternoon, we hope everyone had a great weekend.
We would like to remind everyone that the popular TV show, "The Guest Wing - Round the house's" will be back on Sky Atlantic, this Saturday 30th June.

Sky Atlantic HD will take viewers behind the beautiful facades of some of the country’s finest stately homes to discover how 21st Century aristocrats and their staff have adapted to life in credit-crunch Britain.

Behind the privilege, titles and mansions, the world of the aristocracy may not be as luxurious as it first appears. With huge mansions falling into ruin, utility bills escalating and 'old money' running out, the inhabitants of Chillingham Castle (Northumberland), Maunsel House (Somerset), Carlton Towers (East Yorkshire) and Muncaster Castle (Cumbria) must find new ways to pay the bills.

Opening their homes to visitors willing to pay to enjoy their weekends, weddings and celebrations in style, The Guest Wing properties and their inhabitants will play host to a range of events and experiences over the course of this six part documentary series.

From wedding events to stag parties, Maunsel House is among the stately homes that attract weekend guests from all walks of life and The Guest Wing explores the inevitable culture clash between the old money hosts and their paying guests.

From eccentric earls to busy baronets to harassed housekeepers, The Guest Wing will also examine the modern day Upstairs Downstairs divide as the households are adapted for contemporary events, offering a unique insight into the day to day life of a modern day stately home and its inhabitants.

Be sure to tune in. Sky Atlantic, Saturday 30th June 7AM http://skyatlantic.sky.com/the-guest-wing/the-guest-wing-maunsel-house

Back to the weddings for a moment and we had some wonderful comments from this weekend's Videographer.

"You've got a lovely venue there and the footage I was able to capture looks great so they should get a really nice film out of it all.
Like I said on the day you're one of the best managers/coordinators that I've dealt with at a venue (and we've been to quite a few!) so thank you again for all your help.
Hopefully we'll get a chance to film at Maunsel House again so I look forward to working with you again soon."

Its certainly was a beautiful wedding and we wish the happy couple all the best for the future.

That's all for now but in the mean time please join us on Facebook by clicking the image and dont forget to subscribe to our blog and share if you are feeling really kind.

Money for nothing

We start this Friday's blog with the exciting news of Sir Ben's successful auction bid for Mark Knopfler's guitar. The legendary front man from Dire Straits was donating his Stratocaster guitar for an auction conducted by Philip de Pury. This was in aid of Elton John’s AIDS Foundation, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and Sky Rainforest Rescue.

No doubt Sir Ben will be up to this standard in no time!

If attending auctions was not enough excitement for Sir Ben, he has also been hedging his bets at Ascott this week. In tribute to ladies day, some of our girls modelled some beautiful hats this week.
Fingers crossed for some winners.

In other news this week, the popular TV show, "The guest wing" will be airing on Sky Atlantic this Saturday 23rd June. The programme showcases the finest stately homes and wedding venues and allows an access all areas insight.
For more information on the show you can follow this link to the Sky Atlantic website: http://skyatlantic.sky.com/the-guest-wing/the-guest-wing-maunsel-house

Alternatively you can watch the BBC footage relating to the show

Finally a quick word on the forthcoming Wedding this Satruday. The venue looks beautiful and we just hope the weather holds out for the happy couple. Here's to a perfect wedding.
From everyone at Maunsel House, have a great weekend.

Lords and ladies

Well the sun has finally decided to put his hat on...but for how long this time? We had a beautiful wedding on Saturday and despite the showers, the happy couple and their guests partied in style over three days.

Well done to Holly who delivered an amazing wedding for Liz and Rob. Thank you’s for her and the Maunsel team's hard work were free flowing as guests departed. We wish them the best of luck for the future.

...and now for something completely different.
On Tuesday 19th from 6pm, Taunton Thespians on tour 2012 present A brand new adaptation of Sir Terry Pratchett’s comic fantasy, Lords And Ladies. "It is Midsummer Night and no time for dreaming as the good folks of the rugged hill-top kingdom of Lancre prepare to celebrate the wedding of King Verence and Miss Magrat Garlick, spinster and witch." (For more info and full details www.tauntonthespians.org.uk)

Kind words

Hello friends and welcome to this Fridays blog.

We are looking forward to welcoming our bride and groom for this
Saturdays ceremony. We wish our couple a wonderful day and life together. Lets hope that the weather holds out.

If, however, you are still looking for your ideal wedding venue then don't forget the amazing deal we currently have on offer with our friends at Groupon.
This offer is only running for a few more days so be quick and take advantage of it while you can.
For more information on this please visit our event page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/446169432067388/

Finally we would like to share with you some of our beautiful testimonials left with us this week.

Dear Sir Benjamin,
I recently had the pleasure of using your home to host our wedding on the 5th April. I wanted to take a moment to write to you personally to compliment your fantastic staff.
All of our close friends and family who came in contact with your staff commented on how warm and welcoming they were and i feel this is a unique selling point for Maunsel House. We certainly found in looking around other wedding venues that yours was the only venue whereby we were made to feel welcomed and valued.
So from one very happy bride, a massive thank you for all that you and your staff do. You really do make dreams come true.
With warmest regards,
Victoria

Dear Sir Benjamin, and all the staff,
Thank you so much for making our wedding dream a reality!
We had the most amazing day of our lives and have created memories that we will treasure forever.
Maunsel House is the most magical of wedding venues and from the moment you drive up the driveway you are under a spell. Most wedding venues require hundreds of pounds in order to make them feel complete but Maunsel House is so wonderfully dressed that it complimented our theme perfectly with minimal additional costs.

Of the many weddings we have attended in the last few years all of our guests commented on how wonderful our day was and the main comment was on how Maunsel House and Sir Benjamin really provided an amazing back ground for a brilliant party.
Maunsel House is fantastic and we will recommend it for years to come. We are already planning our next party with you!
With much love and best wishes,
Benjamin

Thats all for now, from everyone at Maunsel House,  have a lovely weekend.

(As we feel the guys at Maunsel deserve a well earned pat on the back!)

Dear Sir Benjamin,
"I thought I would write and thank you for allowing us the use of Maunsel House to celebrate the occasion and to tell you what a wonderful place it is, which I'm sure you already know. Beyond that I want to pass on my thanks to all your staff who made our day so special, particularly Liddy who really is an asset."
Rob and Julie

"I just wanted to to reiterate how fantastic we both felt the service at Maunsel was. To offer us to stay in one of your cottages was kind enough but you were also flexible with your timings to see us and offered genuine hospitality and warmth which I have never experienced from any other service. We will certainly be recommending you to everyone we know"
Amy and Chris

"We just wanted to send you a big big thank you for all your hard work on the run up to and on the day of the wedding. It was absolutely perfect at every stage. Please pass on our thanks to all the people behind the scenes who helped make our day so special"
Julie and Rob

Finally in other news, we had to share with you some of the fantastic workmanship produced by our two stars in the workshop, Adam and Leszek. Beautiful I'm sure you will agree.
