Lisa and Nick in the rain

This week we have a guest blogger, photographer, Helen Lisk.
Helen recently shot the wedding of Lisa and Nick here at Maunsel House.

We managed to grab a few words with Helen who described the big day to us.

"Lisa and Nick got married at Maunsel House on 7th July 2012.  After a whole year's worth of planning and looking forward to an outdoor ceremony on the lawn, it was a bit disappointing to see the weather forecast showing torrential rain across the south west for most of the day.  However, we couldn't have been in a better place for an indoor wedding.  The ceremony was moved indoors, and was absolutely beautiful, then everyone had the most amazing time really making the most of the fantastic indoor areas at Maunsel House.  Lisa and Nick said that the bad weather actually made the day more special, as it brought all the guests together inside.  We explored all around the house to get some fantastic indoor photographs and the guests loved relaxing in the bar between the more formal parts of the day.  The outdoor hog roast under the pergola was a fantastic way to follow the dancing, just as the rain pretty much dried up, with twinkly fairy lights and candles creating a magical finish."

Please enjoy some of the pictures of the day and you can see more of Helen's work here:

Waveform 2012

Here at Maunsel House, we like a good party as much as anyone. The festival season is now in full swing and we are really looking forward to Waveform 2012. After the success of last year, Waveform festival returns to North Newton for another showcase of the latest cutting edge electronic music, whilst at the same time promoting their message of being the UK's leading conscious sustainable dance music festival.

Low impact fun!
(Text below from the Waveform website: www.waveformfestival.com)

Not only can you have an amazing time, run around, go to large dance tents, main stage, listen to incredible DJs but you are also doing this with low impact. This is the essential spice of life for Waveform - Partying doesn't have to cost the earth.

There is also a lot to do along the way to soak up green goodness into your minds in our green village. Spreading the message is a big part of the green revolution. The more people learn the more we can grow to make change possible. We want to provide plenty of opportunities for you to learn how to live sustainability and be more environmentally conscious. Guest speakers will be giving eco-talks and eco-workshops, environmentally aware films will be playing in the Speak tent.

With all the environmental initiatives taking place at Waveform we hope you will leave inspired!

Waveform prides itself on the fact that we are not just offsetting our carbon footprint and other environmental impacts but we are actually reducing them. A large number of our cafes and stalls use just solar or wind power. We use energy efficient technologies such as LED lighting etc to reduce our energy requirement by loads more. We are also minimising on new materials and resources used. Much of our décor, sculptures and art are made from recycled, reclaimed and eco friendly materials.
